Halo Lawsuit Pending: I can "feel" it...

Well, maybe not Halo, but our favorite game did get a mention for supposedly violating patents. Here's the story from Bloomberg:

Microsoft, Sony Accused of Infringing Immersion Gaming Patent

San Jose, CA, Feb 11 (Bloomberg) -- Microsoft Corp. and Sony Corp. are accused in a lawsuit of infringing patents owned by Immersion Corp. that let video game players feel the movement of cars in virtual racing games.

Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's Playstation video game systems have controllers, accessories and software that improperly use patented technology owned by Immersion, according to the lawsuit, filed today in U.S. District Court in Oakland, CA.

The patents involve touch feedback on joysticks or other game controllers, which lets gamers feel vibrations of explosions on their screen or the centrifugal force of racing games. Immersion claims Microsoft's "Halo" software and Sony's "Dualshock" controller and "ATV Offroad Fury" software infringe the Immersion patents.

Max is at it again: stealing other people's ideas... :P (just kiddin'!)

One wonders if anything will come of this. Funny to see they named Sony in their lawsuit as well: expansion of the "evil empire?"
